Pick Up and Drop Off

Pick up and drop offs at airports: renters will be greeted in the airport arrivals hall by a sign with their name on it. Shuttle courtesy coach will meet all flights as needed. Rental location is within 3 km of Faro airport and is approximately 5 minutes away. Out of hours pick up's and drop off's are charged extra and are subject to written confirmation by us.

In Lisbon, if you are unable to locate the representative, please proceed to the Turismo de Lisboa desk located just off the arrivals exit and ask for help. A direct mobile phone is available from this desk to contact the location.

One-way Policies

One-way trip drop-offs are allowed and no extra charge between certain established branches.

Renter may return rental vehicle directly to the airport parking lot, and must inform rental office prior to doing so. A fee will apply and an imprint of the renter's credit card will be taken.

One way to Spain (Andalucia) – on request and subject to written confirmation and additional surcharge.

Payment / Settlement Conditions

Small initial deposit online (percentage of total cost), calculated and quoted instantly online. Remaining estimated rental cost will be paid by renters upon picking up the car. Any amount due related to the rental will be settled upon drop off. An imprint of the renter's credit card will be taken. All the following are accepted: American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa.

Age / Licence Requirements

Driver age has absolute minimum of 18 years, although there is a surcharge for those between 18 and 20 yrs. Standard minimum 21 years, maximum 99 years.

An international driving license is required along with a valid driving license from the driver's country of residence held for at least one year.

Some car groups may have distinct minimum ages and required driving experience.

Taxes

VAT government tax is around 20 percent, included in the quoted prices.

Refuelling Policy

Vehicles are delivered with a full tank, and expected to be returned full as well. A refuelling charge will apply if rental vehicle is returned without a full tank and the missing fuel will be charged accordingly. Renter can buy a full tank upon picking up the vehicle, but no refund will apply if there is fuel left in deposit.

Special Equipment

Navigational devices (GPS), booster, infant and toddler seats available upon request for daily rate, typically with a maximum total charge. Not included in basic rate.

Speed Limits

Airport fee

For off-site car rental facilities, there is no extra charge for transport to the airport via courtesy van.

Unlimited mileage

Customers are free to travel with no limit on mileage or extra charge for passing any certain distance limit. Most car hires do have limits on whether their vehicles may cross international boundaries.

Insurance Rates

Damage to the interior of the vehicle is not covered by any insurance and in case of theft of the vehicle, the client remains responsible until returning the keys and documents of the vehicle to the rental company. In case of accident or damage, always call first. (All the telephone numbers of our offices are mentioned on the rental agreement and on Step 2 of the booking process). When involving other vehicles, take down all of the other party's information and that of possible witnesses. Include details about what happened, where and when. Contact the authorities straight away if there are injured people or there is no consensus on fault. Do not admit or place blame for the accident. In case of total immobilization of the vehicle, please contact Customer & Sales Enquiries.

The following are all included in the base price quoted:

 

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

CDW removes the driver's responsibility for damage to all or part of the rental vehicle excluding damage due to theft or attempted theft. The waiver usually carries an excess/deductible of a certain amount; this means that the renter will be liable for a certain amount. This amount will be frozen off your credit card on arrival. CDW is mandatory insurance and excludes damages due to:

  • bad condition of roads
  • materials dropped by other vehicles or materials left over, used to built roads
  • broken wheels and tyres, the vehicle's undercarriage, glass, excessive dirtiness (requiring a complete interior cleaning) and torn, burned or stained seats, as well as negligence. The cost of repair/cleaning will be charged to the renter.

Theft insurance

Theft protection is included in the basic rate and covers vehicle damage due to theft or attempt theft.

In the event of theft or attempt to theft, renter must present a police report which includes an official stamp.

Third-party insurance (TPI)

Third party insurance is included in the basic rate and covers the driver for third-party claims against him/her for damage caused by the rental vehicle. Third party insurance does not include damage to all or part of the rental vehicle.

Breakdown assistance

This assistance is available for drivers and passengers 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. It includes vehicle substitution and/or transport of passengers and damaged vehicle to the nearest station, in the event the vehicle damage can not be solved on the spot.

Complete Cover Package

Additionally (not included in base price), renter can buy the Complete Cover Package and get high levels of insurance such as theft of luggage and personal goods. In the event of theft or attempt to theft, renter must present a police report with an official stamp. Surcharge is applied daily, and there is no excess/deductible for claims.

 

Voucher

Upon arrival at the Rental counter, you must produce your voucher. Failure to do so means we cannot be held responsible for any additional charges, and cannot offer refunds for any services. We are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.

 


IMPORTANT NOTE: The previous conditions are based on an average of participating car hire companies in the Faro, Portugal area (with pickup service to the Faro Airport), and therefore not guaranteed to be the same as your actual hire terms.
